Woah I’m actually posting some art again? Crazy I know. Hannah is my girl and I want her to get so far in this season! The newest episode was so good and I can’t wait to see where things go.

Which character from the new Disventure Camp season you think will win?

Okay, to be honest:

Either Hannah or Jade

Hannah because she gives Priya vibes to me (without the parts where she is literally a writes pet and sometimes a literal Mary sue)

Jade because she gives leshawna vibes and she looks like the character that would look at the screen with a "I'm literally the UNIC normal/good character in here" look. Like, I just know she's going to be a really chill and sweet characters that the entire cast loves/likes (just like leshawna or Gwen)

And to be honest, my final 3 would be: Hannah, Jade and either Ted or Isabel (they both gives off HUGE main villain AND joke/secondary villain vibes, especially that they seemed to want to warn the audience that "hey, we are not like those other idiots wahaha😈")

Ok, I swear this will be the last post I do about these two alone. Then I promise that in the next days I'll rewatch all the episodes and the interviews and I'll do a post for the whole cast, because it's unfair that I only focus on two when I really like all of them.

ANYWAY for now: episode 5. This is long, fuck. It's pretty much a brain dump about what happened and what I think could happen next.

Hoooly fucking shit. I still feel emotionally destroyed by it. Mind you, I like the pairing in general, but I recognize that the writing of the build up for it was not really top tier.

But god, the delivery sure as fuck delivered.

One thing I like in animated shows is when they manage to picture what a character is feeling with their expressions alone. In this case, the fear in Spencer's eyes was as clear as day, and it was a punch to the guts.

I just want to point out one thing: society will develop when people realize that if there's a conflict between two sides, the causes in most cases are both of them. Here, Diego and Spencer were both right and wrong.

Diego was in love (though it wasn't exactly well written, but I'm not talking about the first four episodes here), he is overall a hopeless romantic, based on what I've got from the greetings, and he decided to rushedly go for it because Spencer himself never gave him a signal of not being interested. But he also was too forward with it, he let his love take control and didn't stop to think what Spencer actually wanted.

Spencer wanted to focus, and the fact that he knew he was interested in Diego scared him. Is it because of his past relationship experience? Maybe, but we don't know yet. The point is, he never straight up told Diego he wasn't interested (because he was, as much as he and the haters wanted to ignore it), and the moment Diego confessed his brain went downhill. He let his fear take control and gave the power to Ivy, pretty much destroying everything he had built up until that moment in the game.

Basically I think the authors' thought process was: we need someone who goes too fast looking for a rose-tinted future, and someone stuck in the traumatizing past too slow to move forward yet. And here we go.

I've seen some people pointing out that Spencer's most prominent feat until now has been how much he lies to himself, because he wants to act smart and logical, but really most of the things he does are caused by his emotions. And that would be why he aligned with Jade, because she's actually how he would like to be.

And yeah, that makes a lot of sense, especially when on the other side is Diego, who's most prominent feats are his honesty and openness. It makes me wonder if the theme of this season will be honesty, both with themselves and with others (thinking about Ivy wanting to be the nice actress but having a mean streak or Marissa opening up to Anastasia about not wanting to enter the military, and these are only from episode 5).

The same people on Twitter made me realize that the reason Spencer was crying after Diego confessed was probably the nice stuff he said about him, and Spencer couldn't handle it. Why? Who knows. As much as he acts so sure of himself most of the time, he has actually shown multiple times his tons of insecurities (his past relationship first in line, apparently).

Anyway, Spencer fucked up, he got Diego out despite not really wanting it (Derek had to call him out to vote faster at the elimination), and put both himself and Jade in a tight spot. And to top it all off, I wouldn't be surprised if he felt guilty as hell. I myself know way too well that fear and stress are the worst kinds of counselors, let alone in the context of a game show.

Now, he could still salvage this if he doesn't tell Ivy about the idol, he convinces the Vibe Tribe to vote for Jade and he tells Jade to work with Hannah and Benji to take out one of the three, kind of double agent style. But the thing is, I don't know how lucid he'll be to manage a thought process, and how much Jade will trust him from now on.

Btw Jade has every right to be pissed at him. He lied to her, multiple times, and he betrayed the alliance because of his feelings. Everyone would be pissed in her place, let's be real.

And even more importantly, this elimination affects the entire team, because even if people don't like to see it, Diego WAS the one holding everyone together, being the leader, doing the yoga sessions and being the only one connecting with Hannah and Benji too in a way. So there's also to see how the team will handle this fracture now.

As for Diego himself, I think they're either setting up a comeback or a second season for the couple. Honestly, I hope at least for this season they don't end up together, just. On talking terms, you know. A reset of some sort, where they can begin actually knowing each other and develop more, be it together or on their separate ways.
